the artist
Peter Davis studied art at Manchester Polytechnic (formerly The Manchester School of Art) over twenty year’s ago. During his time there he experimented in different media and styles from traditional figurative life drawing to modern abstract expressionism. He also studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London and has attended a number of residential courses at Plas Newydd in North Wales.
He came up with the concept of a lifeline portrait in 2004. The lifeline is considered the most important line on a person’s hand, marking a unique representation of who they are. By bringing individual lifelines together Peter experiments with them as symbolic representations of the emotional collectiveness within a close-knit family or the intertwined and symbiotic relationship of couple’s unity.
Peter now lives in Cheshire with his family and paints Lifeline Portraits from his studio at home. To view a small selection of recent work please click here.
